Rates charged at Long Term Care Homes in Ontario

The rates for The Rekai Centre at Sherbourne Place and The Rekai Centre at Wellesley Central Place are set annually by the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long Term Care and are the same for all long term care homes in Ontario.  They are based on adjustments in the payment entitlements of Old Age Security (OAS), Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS) and Guaranteed Annual Income Supplement (GAINS).

Basic Accommodation (Ministry Rate Reduction available)*

In the current The Rekai Centre at Sherbourne Place, which is denoted as a Class C building by the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care due to its age, basic accommodation is the old “ward” style with 4 residents to a room.

Semi Private Accommodation (Ministry Rate Reduction not available)

Private Accommodation (Ministry Rate Reduction not available)

• Rooms accommodate one resident and have a private washroom with upgraded room amenities and preferred placement and view in the home.

The monthly rate is set by the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care each July and for 2010-2011, the rates are as follows:

*A resident selecting basic accommodation who cannot afford the full monthly rate can apply for a Ministry rate reduction by providing last year’s  “Notice of Assessment” and The Rekai Centres will conduct an income test to determine the appropriate rate.

** The daily rate is charged for a partial month.  The monthly rate is charged for a full month, regardless of the number of days in a month.
